UAE strikes the right musical chord!

UAE is being touted as the new music hub for international artists and we have to agree. All kinds of music are present in the UAE today. Popular international music has its place in night clubs and parties but it hasn’t thwarted the growth of the local Indie scene in the region.

Today, we’re seeing a thriving local music scene as well as music from the neighbouring regions. The next few months will put UAE on the global map as a prominent music destination for artists. Here are a few of the artists who will raise the excitement level of all music lovers in the months to come:

1.      Enrique Iglesias

The man who once had every girl and even guy going puppy-eyed at him has been off the charts for a while but seems ready to be back with a bang. He was supposed to perform with Jennifer Lopez in UAE but unfortunately, that didn’t work out. His new single ‘Finally Found You’ was released on August 25th, 2012 on the iTunes store.

His tour is an extension of his successful album Euphoria, with songs featuring the likes of Akon, Usher and Juan Luis Guerra. For anyone who even once loved Enrique & we’re pretty sure that’s everyone, this concert is not something you’re going to want to miss.

2.      Kylie Minogue & Nickelback

What may seem like an unlikely combination, is the choice of artists for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this year. The three-day event will see new performances every day from three international stars. Kylie and Nickelback have been finalised for the first two days but the third artist is yet to be decided. We can’t say we’re complaining ‘cause this just means the chance for one more musician to globe trot his way over here.

3.      Jennifer Lopez

Though the coming months promise a cool climate, temperatures are definitely going to soar when Jennifer Lopez sets foot in the desert sands. Her most recent song was the global chart topper, ‘On the Floor’ featuring Pitbull. She will be coming to UAE on November 22nd, 2012, as part of her Dance Again tour which started off on June 14th in Panama.

4.      Gotye

As hard as it might be to pronounce his name, it’s even harder to not know who he is. His claim to fame was his brilliant single, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ with Kimbra. After selling nine million copies and topping the charts in 18 countries, the song had to be a staple on every person and radio channel’s playlist.

His concert is set for a day after Jennifer Lopez’s concert i.e. on November 23rd. We bet fans are looking forward to the live rendition of his world famous song but we hear he will perform other songs from the album, including his new single Eyes Wide Open.

5.      Justin Bieber

The newest kid (quite literally) on the block is all of 18 years old but is already reported to have earned more than $50m in the past year. He was listed by Forbes as the third-most powerful celebrity in America. His single ‘Baby’ was a super-hit, topping charts the world over.

He is coming to UAE in 2013 as part of the Believe tour which is to support his second album, Believe. Thought the concert may call for a lot of screaming and palpitating teenage girls, we know that it is going to be one exciting affair (irrespective of its resemblance to a high school prom.)
